I'm baaa-ack (Nochebuena pensamientos)

With just a couple of sentiments and thoughts.

The electrician was here for TWO HOURS and still hasn't fixed our electricity woes. Santa won't have a lighted tree to find tonight. Hopefully he'll see that we decorated the outside trees, so he'll know to stop here. The electrician will return this weekend. Hopefully all will be resolved then...or we will know for sure that we have to rewire the house. (This makes me a bit sad, because I LOVED our little tree with the peaceful blue lights and all the snow-related ornaments...)

That said, I ran out of room in hubs's stocking, so I half-filled my stocking too. Which is a good thing, because apparently I've been a bad girl in years past, and have ended up with an empty stocking on Christmas Morning, so it will at least have SOMETHING in it this year. Hubs is only getting one non-stocking gift this year because I'm paying for a good portion of our Malta trip.

It seems crazy, but I have EVERYTHING ready for tomorrow and it's only 5pm. It helps that I didn't have my daughter's gigantic stocking to fill (I always overestimate what I fill her stocking with, so usually have to include a couple of smaller wrapped gifts to fill it! lol It's GINORMOUS!) nor her fiance's. Although I didn't look specifically for stocking stuffers for them this year, I couldn't pass up one small gift that would have ended up in their stockings, so I'm repurposing it as a Wisemen's gift (January 6th).

Christmas Week (so far)

I was born in the year of the rooster. You?
I was born in the year of the rooster. You?

Was down with a migraine yesterday. They've become more intense and evil the past few months. I did nothing yesterday because mine come with some wicked dizziness that make me nauseous. So, I listened to/quasi watched YouTube documentaries. I was medicated enough that I only remember a few bits and pieces of what I listened to, but the one that stuck with me the most was one on the Han Dynasty and how that is when the Chinese Zodiac first appeared. As I read my "horoscope" above, I think how under-confident I am so often, but if I look deeper into the sentence, it mentions gifts that are forward thinking. When I know something--I really, really know it and I think that is self-confidence. Hmmmm.

I think I finished my Christmas shopping except one thing that doesn't have to arrive before Christmas. Yay! I even got some Wisemen shopping done today (El Dia de los Reyes-January 6th). The tree makes me happy because it's so peaceful. I'm currently watching a Bradley Braves game (s0 far they are ahead by 5 with 5 minutes to go, 2nd half) and the tree is also in my line of vision. I have a menu planned for Christmas that is only slightly more than a normal dinner. I want it to be special, so I'm also making dessert.

My mind is only sort of on my goals right now. It's a tad more on Christmas. Next week's goals might be all about catching up on the previous two week's shortcomings.

White Chili, Gray Christmas

I just love this photo of Reno so much! He did a really great job at the Sculpture Walk/Santa Cause today, but it was akin to pulling teeth to get him to do a selfie with me! This is at the end of the race route, as we were headed back to the car.

Wishing for a Silent Night

YouTube has some awesome holiday music to sleep or meditate to this year. I think I've always relied on them over Spotify for Christmas playlists, but this year there are SO. MANY. Maybe tonight I'll be moved to write some metaphor-this is the perfect music for it. My brain hasn't been in that mode very much lately. I would have thought this year, above all other years, would have incited some random metaphoric rambles, but nope.

Extra day = extra pay

Hubs's secretary's flight got canceled yesterday, so I'm in the office another day.
Hubs's secretary's flight got canceled yesterday, so I'm in the office another day.

So far it's been quiet--no creepy legal opponents...yet. Tomorrow is the first court date, so the pro se litigant might be saving up for then. Who knows. I have a strong feeling the case will get dismissed, which would be to everyone's benefit. The threatening emails really need to stop.

Had to order my birth certificate online. Instead of going to the county clerk's office, you have to order from a 3rd party service now because of COVID. What would have taken fifteen minutes at the clerk's office will now take fifteen days.

FINALLY got my information for health insurance. It's been a mess ever since they declared me legally disabled. (In MAY. It took more than six months to get all of the details, ID #, etc.) I wonder if it always takes so long, or if they are also back-logged because of COVID.

Kitten goes in for her shots next week. Time keeps marching forward. I'm listening to instrumental Christmas music at the office today. Holly had decorated last week, so there is a small tree & some lights. I feel very holiday-cozy today. It's overcast, but there is no snow in the forecast here until possibly Friday.

Today hubs is coming back to the office with a salad. My bil (the other attorney here) brought me a breakfast sandwich this morning. I definitely can't complain. At least I'm getting fed during my time here!

Boy-Mandemic Update

I now know how to keep the man-boy entertained while our city is shut down again...make future plans. We just booked a trip to Malta, for May 2021. It came with insurance, as in, we can cancel 72 hours in advance for any reason whatsoever. We don't get a refund, but 100% of what we paid would be applied to a new trip. I hope, beyond hope, that Europe, the Americas and the rest of the world will be open for tourism by then. It also gives me 6 months to study up on Malta. This is not even a bucket list trip, folks. Never even considered Malta as a destination, but the price was too good and we are jonesing for some beach time. The one really cool thing I discovered is that English is spoken in Malta. I don't have to learn Maltese, though we are directionally challenged & plan to go on some excursions outside of St. Julian, so I'll study up on some helpful phrases. (It has been my experience that the farther you stray from a major foreign city, the less likely that people will understand English...) It is unlike any other language I've ever studied, so I'm kind of excited to learn a little Maltese.

Serenity - In Progress

I'm such a nerd because I love double entendres. I am in the process of discovering serenity, but I am also in the process of learning choreography to the Godsmack song. It just happens to be my favorite Godsmack song, so this has been a ton of fun so far!

I was fortunate to catch Godsmack live in 2006 before they headlined their own shows. They opened for Metallica, and I honestly have to say that I enjoyed Godsmack more that day. Metallica looked tired and like they were barely tolerating each other, and that was *after* Jason Newsted left the band, so they should have been fresh.

I have a lot to do this month. I decided to make a Vision Board and display it over my treadmill. I'd like to nail down choreo for Serenity and jump back into the Shimmy Mob choreo (which I don't know by heart yet). I'd like to be performance-ready for both of those by month's end.

I have many, many miles to walk this month as well. And a set of cross-stitch Christmas ornaments to finish.

I'm doing a 30-day yoga thing to hopefully alleviate some stiffness, as well. I'm using it as a cool down from walking. I'm so much better with my yoga practice when I'm on a solid running or walking kick.

And, I might be sick of poetry by the end of the month. My biggest goal for July is to get my chap book completed and at least uploaded for self-publication. Pretty sure I'll be ready to write some fiction after that!
